The Mediterranean Manta is a close relative of the oceanic species, with which it shares the large pectoral fins, similar to wings, and the flattened body that allow it to swim at great speeds. It has a very developed tail which can equal the length of the rest of the body. Sometimes it jumps completely out of the water.
It feeds mainly on plankton, in particular on very small shrimps, the same ones that cover the diet of the Common Whale.
Not infrequently in fact, where a Mobula is present there is also some Whale.
