Relatively common throughout the Mediterranean, it is an active and fast shark that feeds mainly on small fish and squid, but does not disdain the carcasses of much larger animals.
Its slender body with a bright blue color is perfectly hydrodynamic, with an elongated snout and narrow pectoral fins. It is usually encountered in the open sea and data indicate that births occur in the Adriatic Sea.
