Species sighted: Striped Dolphins, Sunfish
Spring days are characterized by the large presence of velellas, relatives of the jellyfish that float in large swarms carried by the current. It is the main food of the sunfish, the largest bony fish in the world, which can weigh up to two tons. In spring it is quite easy to observe it on the surface while it feeds on the velellas. Spring is also the ideal breeding season for striped dolphins. The groups met today were all accompanied by numerous puppies.
